Thank you Primrodo
This morning Half a TARDIS (I need to go the other side of a fence to take a full view with my camera)
![[image] [image]](http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/Timegirl/TG_December06.jpg)
The other half (this weathering seems to be dead easy) As you can see in the foreground my TARDIS is being attacked by Duck Sec, Duck Thay and Duck Caan !!!!!
![[image] [image]](http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/Timegirl/Duck_Sec_Thay_Caan.jpg)
Full view – a need a new camera, each picture is a different blue but the first one is nearest to real life.
![[image] [image]](http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/Timegirl/th_TG_no_postcaps.jpg)
You’re right about the post caps Manta – always the last thing to do

Looks absolutely brilliant TG. And in time for Christmas! (just like you promised!) Love the Radio Times XMAS shot you've taken. I bet you can't stop looking at it, and as ChrisKB has said somewhere else, this effect is one that lasts, happily.
Like a lot of people I've been watching this one for a while now, it's a really nicely build TARDIS. Congrats on (almost ) finishing the job! What a Christmas present.

What a great set of photos! It really looks the part - I can just see Hartnell coming out of those doors (and I don't mean one of the ducks ;P )
That glass gives it a real air of mystery too, and I love the colour you chose for your Tardis! And, of course, great window design
That's got to be a very Merry Christmas, right there! You should be proud, it's a real accomplishment.
cheers Chris

Brilliant, Timegirl!
Maybe it's that I'm not on here that often, but it seemed a remarkably quick build! And to top standard too.
Well impressed.

Excellent work Timegirl. Your tardis looks fantastic.
I've followed your build from start to finish and have been very impressed all the way. It's the right shape, the right colour and really well finished.
Great job!

I’m in a bit of a quandary about lighting. My solar lamp works fine but it’s a bright glow rather than a bright light and it lights up for a maximum of five hours. The solar LED is at the top of the lamp so I have space for another bulb and I want to light the signs too.
Anyway, the quandary is - whether to go for 12V electrics or 240V. Although enclosed, It may be cold/damp inside in the winter and I can’t promise there wont be any water ingress in the future, so I think I need lighting suitable for using outdoors. I’ve seen some lovely thin fluorescent fittings but for indoor use only.
What I’d like is: PIR detection And a Dusk to dawn option Lighting for lamp, four signs and glow for windows Advice on running mains outdoors or 12V options. Low energy lighting (because my electricity supply is poor here -I switch the kettle on and all the lights dim and I don’t want it to cost a lot (to me or the environment) to leave it on most of the time. Total wattage is important to me!)
And finally, I'm not sure if I want a flashing lamp but if I could find a flashing device what would be a good flash rate? (I’m sure this has been discussed in another thread, but I can’t find it)
Any help with any of these points would be wonderful – thank you in advance
TG

TG, I made up a little flashing light circuit that runs off 12 volts and has an adjustable flash rate. I use it to flash a 12 volt car bulb in my lamp. I was drawing up a circuit and plans so other people can make them too (I sent one to Glen to try out too) but I never finished that. As far as electronics projects go it is pretty simple but I thought the whole write up might be too bloody obvious for electronics minded people and not obvious enough for novices! I could post what I did though if you like? Oh, and with a simple switch you could make it so it is either off, flashing or on all the time. Mine just flashes but I realised pretty quickly being able to have it just stay on would be useful (would make a great night light in my lounge)!

That sounds great Simon, I'd really appreciate it (I'm sure others here would too) if you could post your circuit/plans for the flashing light. Thank you very much

I tried a simple solution for now, a set of outdoor white christmas lights. I pushed a handful of them up into the fresnel and strung the rest around inside the signboxes .
![[image] [image]](http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/Timegirl/night_light_tardis_TG.jpg)
What's the betting I'll still have this 'temporary' solution next Christmas

It is traditional for TARDIS builders to leave their stepladder in any build photos
I did think of cropping it but then thought...'I'll leave it there for Crispin'

Hi Timegirl, I did that little document about the light flasher. It is only in Word format for now but if you can take a look and suggest anything you like to make it better. It is tricky writing it up for someone who doesn't know much about electronics.
You can do a right click 'Save As' on this link to get it: http://www.asciimation.co.nz/TARDIS/flasher.zip

That does seem to be the way temp-fixes work, especially when Gaffer tape's involved!
Looks good though TG.
You can get additional security light PIR sensors from Maplins, I'm sure it could be wired into the circuit fairly easily but I'd guess you'd need to add a timer circuit so that the lamp flashes for a set time once triggered (otherwise it would only flash when somebody moved!).
As for the Police Box signs, why not go for the original box solution of a single bulb on a cable lined up with the signs? You Could use an energy efficient bulb if you opted for 240v.

Hi Simon
Great document! Thanks for posting it. I'm not an electronics whizz whatsoever, but even though theres some terminology in there that's unknown to a total electronics-newbie like me (and that's a generous description of my skills!) your instructions make me tempted to have a go!

Thanks for suggesting Maplins Mark - they also have all the components for Simon's flashing light circuit !!!
And, I'm sure you're right that the 240v bulb-in-the-middle is the tried and trusted way to light the signs. I think my reasoning was - to use 12v because you don't usually kill yourself with 12v TG

Hi TG!!!
Well, I have been a bit busy and away from the forum This time of the year is the busiest for me and if you haven't herd the news, Lisa and I are expecting a little girl in May...
I am just getting caught up now... I love your pics of the TARDIS... I wish I would have had mine completed for the Christmas season, but it will be done before the baby comes - it has too!!
I missed you all during my short hiatus!
