When you decide to actually start building your TARDIS, create yourself a thread here and show us what you're doing! Pictures are welcome. When you finish, go over to the Exterior Gallery, and make a thread over there with some nice photos of your work.

Wonderful workman's ship... The color is fabulous. Lamp detailing is quite cleaver as well. I held my window frames in a similar fashion with turn buttons. I can't wait to see her all assembled! All I worried about was getting the front of the lock in the right place on the door, didn't think of the rest til later. If you have enough overlap on the covering strip down the middle, you could plane a ¼" off the hinge side of one or both doors so there's a bigger gap between them, and set the strike plate as flush as possible on the other door, and just have the lock hang over the edge a little as I did. You may be able to recess the hinges if you haven't already to get a bit more space. If you have to rebate the strike plate a little as well, it wouldn't be a disaster. Worst case, you might have to pull off the covering strip and attach a slightly wider one. Anyway, I'm sure it's fixable. Great to see it getting so close! Alaternatively, you can fill the hole and drill a new one in the right place. Alternatively (ii), you can cut out the gap in the other side using a router or whaterver tools you have around and then set the strike-plate bit at the right place to suit where the latch bit reaches to. I brought some of the smaller pieces home and stashed them in the other room. The base, roof pieces, and the signs are laying around on the floor and leaning against the wall. I do child care for one of my students, a 10 year old with autism, over the summer, and we've been watching Series 1 together. I brought her over to my apartment and showed her all the pieces. Without prompting, she said "Doctor Who!" She's pretty cool! I hope I don't get any calls from potential roommates before Sunday (actually, I do). I don't know what would be more shocking, to practically walk into a TARDIS in the living room or to see it in pieces in the room you want to move into. I'm hesitant to use super glue because the paint has given me such a problem with sticking and coming off where it's not supposed to. I think it's a primer problem. Anyway, I don't really want the side signs just holding on by paint. The front one at least has to be fairly attachable and detachable as it would be spanning the two big side pieces. Actually this is closer to what it looks like in my apartment Now that it's in...WHY DID I MAKE IT SO BIG!? It's just so much bigger than anything else I've got in that tiny room, BUT IT'S MINE! I did the grunge work on the phone panel sign. I used a pretty dry stamp pad and a cotton ball and just rubbed the ink on in smudges where I wanted it. I think it looks great! I didn't have the bolts to put the light fixture on, and I thought it would be best to put that on while the roof was off, so that's not done. I'm a little worried that the lamp is going to scrap the ceiling... I haven't put the signs up yet either. I think the right hand door wound up being installed slightly higher than the other, because the left hand door scrapes the base when closed and the top of the right hand door scrapes the sign when I have it level with the other door. I'm going to try to file down the bottom corner and I'll just have to deal with the top. We had a guy from the water company arrive to test the quality of the tap water. He stood at the sink filling bottles and right outside the window in front of him is a massive blue box with 'police' written on it - and he didn't even blink. In fact he just went on about chlorine and mineral deposits. I guess everyone in my street must have a Tardis in the garden! Either that or there are far far stranger sights to be had in his line of work and a little old Tardis just isn't worth commenting on!
