Nice work Jon - those windows look like they'll work perfectly with your perspex. Can't wait to see them painted and in place!!
cheers Chris

Gee, thanks guys!
Steady progress on the windows... This really has not been as bad as the roof!
If you notice, I built the frames then realized I had no way of mounting the perspex, unless I drilled into and screwed it to the frame or hot glued it... I did not want to crack the perspex, so I decided to build an additional frame that would basically house the perspex then I could place 'push point' or 'glazing' points to hold the perspex in place. I used to do a lot of window/glass repair and re- glazing in the hardware business which I worked for since I was a youngster...
Finish coat of 'TARDIS' blue tomorrow and mounting with perspex in place... The last is the signs which are ordered! Yippie!

jon,
Those windows are very nice. I like the additional frame you built. I will use that technique when i get to the window portion of the build.
I can't wait to see how your signs turn out.

Avadh and Scott, thanks!
Here are a few snaps... a sneak peak if you will

The suspense of the windows all in place is driving me batty... I have to wait until the paint cures before I do much more. Sorry, to inundate you all with repeat window progress, but I could not resist to share my joy!

Did you sand both sides of the perspex? For some reason I did, and found it gave a deeper opaque effect..

Well, I could not resist these snaps. The window are all mounted and complete. I just need to mount my 'Pull to Open' phone panel and then mount the signs when they arrive. There may be some fine tuning, but she's basically done!

WOW, Jon this is a super quality build. I can only hope my TARDIS turns out as nice as yours when I am complete.
Few questions bud,
The Perspex I assume that was clear and then you sanded?
Your sign boxes, to get that little lip on the inside where the sign goes did you use a router for that?
Back to the windows, where did you get the little tabs to hold the perspex in place?
By the way the Windows look absolutely FANTASTIC..
Scott

Scott, the answers in order: 1) yes, the persex was clear and I sanded both sides. 2) I used 1/4" square wooden stock that can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowes. The square stock will be next to the rounded dowels they come in 12,24 and 36" lengths. A router would work, but the corners would be round and you would have to chisel them to make squared corners. 3) tabs are called glazers "push points" any hardware or DIY will have these. This is what held glass in place in old 'sash' style window panes. I hope that helps.
Karst and Scott - the watch dogs with K9 abilities are on watch, so BEWARE OF THE DOGS....LOL! You guys are welcome anytime to visit.
Rizla, Avadh and Rmef2 many thanks on the kind and supportive words. I do appreciate that! Every home needs a TARDIS. Once the signs are in place she'll be complete! Yahoo!
Cheers, Jon~

Jon, that TARDIS of yours is simply phenomenal. I congratulate you sir! When mine finally arrived and we spent agaes assembling it, and it was finally just standing there all TARDISy and such, I just stood back with a can of Wild Turkey and giggled like a schoolgirl for about an hour.

Pod, I am looking forward to that moment when the signs are in place, back lit and such. I am planning on consuming at least a 5th of any good beverage , so I can to giggle like a school girl for several hours then cry like a baby in the morning because she's all done... Mixed emotions for sure. Is your TARDIS bar open for business???
Update to all those waiting so ever patiently... Here's the skinny on the TARDISy Police Box. The weathering is now complete. The colour looks phenomenal, the ol' girl just came alive. The signage is the only minor set back. They are ordered, but had a little set back on pricing, the company wanted to double the costs of the perspex. A new vendor was found, and I am hoping that all signs will be here in a few weeks. It is getting harder to wait, but young grasshopper must learn the virtue of patience...LOL! The excitement is overwhelming. I am refraining from posting any further photos until all signs are in place. More to come...
Cheers, Jon~

Hey Jon! Yep, the BARDIS sure is open for business, and has been since night one! It's the most exclusive club in town, but there's no dress code. The beverage/schoolgirl moment is one of life's finest, no doubt. (Er ... maybe I should clarify that ... ) Cheers, Ian

Hi everyone! Well, I could not hold off posting photos of the weathering job that I completed a while back any longer. I had planned to wait until the signs were all in place, but there as been a significant delay, but word came today that signs are nearly ready. I should have all signage in place in the next few weeks to compete my build officially then it's time for preparations for a NST build...

We never tire of seeing yet more pictures of each new build, do we?
Personally I think every new TARDIS appearing outside the UK is something fantastic. I only wish I could build something bigger than a model myself.
It looks excellent, and as always I am so jealous!
