When you decide to actually start building your TARDIS, create yourself a thread here and show us what you're doing! Pictures are welcome. When you finish, go over to the Exterior Gallery, and make a thread over there with some nice photos of your work.
Scott ol' son that's the biz, and no mistake. The magical "Blue paint moment" approaches. In my humble, you've captured the Hartnell look perfectly, well done. BTW It was me who sent you the St. John's file, but I received it from TG in the first place With Pod using it on his build in Australia, it is almost as well travelled as the box upon which it sits.
Cheers KB
Ahh yes that Magical Blue Paint Moment I had a short discussion with DRIZ last night about that exact subject. Leaning toward VC1. Got a Strip from Dulux, going to take it down to the the Lowes and have them match the strip in an Enamel.
And thanks for the St John file I took the PDF file you sent me to the copy shop and I had them reduce it to the desired dimensions. Here is a thought I see there are two faint dots on the badge in the middle on either side. It looks to me that it was where a bolt would be? I am thinking of drilling out those 2 spots and securing the badge with a few small bolts. Nothing serious just enough to keep it in the correct spot after painting and to help keep the glue steady. ANYONE HAVE THOUGHTS ON THIS??
Also thanks for the compliment on the Hartnell look. The box will have the Hartnell look with a few minor corrections like those Nice brass handles and yale lock. I dont like where the Hartnell box has the lock therefore I will have a more Mid series position in regards to handles and locks.
Also the metal sign I stole from Dr IZ that was made in Canada has a second coat of gloss to protect from the elements and prevent the letters from peeling off. This will replace the mock sign that currently sits on the door for motivation purposes only.

Just regards your St John's plate and those little dots, I went through this too. They are where you drill the screwholes. But remember, for total accuracy, you have to find flat-head screws, not philips head ones!! I'm still looking around for some flat-head grub screws. Believe it or not, flat-head screws are out of production!
And that TARDIS ... a work of art, brother. A work of freakin' art.

Humbled I am, thank you for the enthusiastic praise.
Also I thank you for the clarification, I am thinking of using small rounded bolts and just nut on the reverse side. however I do have some of them small flat screws maybe worth trying.

Yep I used the dots as markers for the screws, countersunk them and used very small flat head screws - do they really not make them anymore?!?
Anyway more importantly Your TARDIS is looking brilliant Scott, very nice work!! - roll on (or brush on) that blue paint!

Well I have a new Pain and it is WINDOWS. And this is not an issue with Microsoft!
Wow these things take lots and lots of time if you want them to look right. My first stab at the windows really didnt settle well with me. I posted a photo because I wanted to see the window look but in reality I knew I would need to take a fresh approach.
Below is my second attempt at some windows. I bought a new compound Mitre Saw that has a nice laser line so my cuts are far more accurate than before allowing me to get the pieces close enough to look good. I also found a texture that will give me a somewhat pebbled look!
The image below is just being held in place. I still have that lower bar for this model to place so you will not see any gaps.

I think your windows look really good Scott. My windows were held together with cheap glue they dried out and bits fell off - so I'm no expert . I'm remaking mine so I'm really interested to see how yours work out!

What the hell's wrong with those? Mine were made by a professional, and they don't look any different to yours. Hurry up and paint the damn thing, I can't wait!!

OK Scott, here's the deal. If you can get this done before the end of th month (or before Chicago TARDIS next weekend), I will make the 90 minute drive up to Moline, and we can reenact the opening of An Unearthly Child. How's that for incentive? Bill Rudloff

Well thank you Iz:) I will take a set of photos as I build the next window. I sorta did the same design that Dr IZ did on his TARDIS. I spent some good time crawling around his box when he wasnt looking taking some good photos and studying his construction methods. However he didnt glue his windows, he had a good router.
The glue I am using is Gorilla Glue for Plastic and wood. It dries white and kinda foams. I just take a blade and cut the excess off. She scrapes pretty good

Did you look back on the thread and see what I posted last week? The windows had bad gaps and uneven boards. I like my latest attempt.
Paint hopefully very soon. Just a few more tweaks.

Wow, I forgot all about Chicago TARDIS. Are you going this year?
I really would like to get this box done ASAP! I wish I would have been in the groove 6 months ago rather than sitting at home feeling sorry for my unemployed self. Now I am working so time isnt a luxury.
