My bottom's warped as well. Nothing to do with TARDISes, just thought I'd drop it in.
Happy Re-Building, Chris, you'll love it all the more in the end.

Chris,
The ol' girl is looking fabulous... I love the gladding on the inside. I am sure you will appreciate it. The 'Blue Paint' moment after priming is a majestic to say the least. Have you chosen a colour of blue that suits you?
Your build is solid work! She will with stand the test of time!
Thanks for the help with my build too!
Cheers, Jon~

We regardless of the re-do's you have to go through that is a mighty fine box and the upgrades you wanted to do anyway is going do look great. Awesome work. I was looking at your build and was thinking, how many boxes is the now for the rebuilders guild? I mean this has to be some sort of record for the number of Police Box's despite all the variants. I am sure it has surpassed the actual number of real police boxes ever produced, or darn close. Well I'm rambling at any rate beautiful work.

Those modifications are really working rather well there and I think that the increased width of the sign boxes are going to ballance out perfectly with the new and improved corner posts.
I know I haven't said much lately in your thread, but as you know, I'd only be repeating what we've discussed over the phone. You're doing magnificently getting the build to the way that you want it.

Thanks atomic, avadh, driz,tg,purp, karst and rizla for all of the encouraging comments. And I'm glad people seem to like the internal panelling I can vouch that it is a super-solid build - I can only just manage to lift one wall on my own, but then again I haven't built it to be packed up and moved regularly like an original prop; It's going to live outside so there's no chance it's going to blow away either
Jon - I haven't settled on a blue paint colour yet, but I have a few sample pots of Dulux paints to experiment with when the time comes. I'm planning to weather it with a rag and some black though.
Karst - good question! I wonder if it's time for another TR2 poll to find out how many full-sized builds exist. If it has surpassed the number of original police boxes then it's a rather cool factoid
And thanks Purp - I'm really happy to be making my modifications, as you know I wasn't entirely happy with elements of my original plans, the work is hard (well harder than making it right in the first place..) but rewarding.
I can't wait for the old blue paint to go on. The base will be first to be blue just so I can work on the walls in-situ to avoid having to paint the base at the very end, so that will be a nice preview
cheers Chris

a lot of nooks and crannies in a TARDIS. It's its surface area is bigger on the inside than on the outside...lol! I agree Chris, I have been fine tuning my build and priming parts that could rot with enough moisture and time. I am looking forward to your 'blue paint' moment.
Cheers, Jon~

Now just a cotton picking minute there Dematerialiser, this build of yours is utter toss. Words fail me at the approach you're taking with the project - I mean, what the hell were you thinking?
That lamp housing, talk about the most awkwardly engineered, topsey-turvey way of producing the most simple of things, why did you not just take a much simpler route? I've got some envelopes here at home waiting to be sealed. I was thinking about maybe just folding the flap over and pressing down, but if you have any suggestions on how to string this out and make it more difficult, I'd be happy to know. I guess I could build some kind of steel jig, hinged and spring loaded - thoughts?
As for the texturing. Well, pfffff. I could do better with my eyes closed using a packet of Oat-So-Simple and a beef strainer. Now that I think about it, why don't you quit while you're ahead - the project is doomed, doooooomed I tells ya. You and your silly ideas, I just pray that no-one else here decides to pick up on these hair-brained schemes.
Just s** off why don't you and don't shame us with your membership again.
Right. Now reverse everything I just said there and that's what I really feel. Sorry to subject you all to the above diatribe, but let's put it this way... it was a bit of a dare and a personal joke between me and Demat. Got you going for a minute though, didn't I? Or did I? Yes, I know, stupid childish behaviour from someone who ought to know better. In my day, we never.....

Demat - mate, a lot of good stuff that I am seeing on your thread. The lamp housing is quite fancy to say the least. She'll look good as your Police Box is standing proud.
It's really nice to see the activity back on your thread. Even if it's sarcasm that makes for entertainment...

ooooh blue it looks great. the texture is tricky i switched sprays in the process and the new texture spray chips and scrapes off even worse than the first..... but i've got one more trick up my sleeve to solve the problem. good luck your build is great

Wow, I like what I see. Your roof looks awesome. I should have made mine like yours. I had a good friend stop by the day I was building my roof and he recommended that I place the roof decks on top of the frame. Well, I was going to place them in a rebate, but he convinced me to go the way that I did. You conceal your joint lines in a better way. Looks great!
The lamp housing and the fresnel lens just fit well together. The 'primer moment' is not as majestic, but certainly gets you close the the next step, 'the blue paint' moment... How exciting!
KB and waging who shall finish first. I say this, whoever on this forum builds a build and gets it to completion is a winner, but I am betting you'll beat me! LOL!!!! Love that KB! What a mate, he really is one heck of a nice guy and a good friend too.
Good luck as you reach your apsects of your build. I am sure she will look incredible once all assembled and with a few coats of blue on her. I can not wait!
Cheers, Jon~ EDIT: PS - Willytron - I do hope I did not make any true insults. I was just playing... It's all good! I'll join you out in the field without my shoes too

Thanks all.
atomic - good luck with your further texture experiments! I thought I'd hit on the magic 'tardis texturing' product with the Plasticote (but as it stands I think the company should be ashamed of themselves - they should take 'wood, metal, glass' off the tin for a start!!). Let us know if you solve the problem.
Jon - thanks for the compliments and encouragement Ordinarily I would have built my roof like yours, but it's only because I needed to add width that I rebuilt it that way; hoping that my filling and glueing will stop the rain from de-laminating it..! As for KB's wager - I'll make a counter-wager that you finish before I do..! I don't even have a flat area outside to enable me to test fit the roof (which can't be done in my garage) so I'm looking at some outside decking. Anyway, your build is looking superb
cheers Chris

Hi KB, Thanks! Paper rules OK! LOL. And a bunch of flimsy templates seem to rule the UK as well at the moment My frames are going to be blue, mainly because of the season18 roots of the box, and also because they're not surface-mounted like your lovely white frames are - most of the outer frame on mine ends up behind the bevel of the panel.
Hi Jon, my glass is pebbled. From the sounds of it you might find that a lot easier to find in the States than the UK! I had to go with reclaimed glass (which isn't safety glass of course...)
Hi Rassilon, I had to join a few bits together to make the right shape unfortunately, A3's not quite right for the size of my windows as I've tweaked this and that in my design.
cheers Chris
