I attached two 2"x4"s to the sides of wall number three. I admit, that isn't much - but it's more than i've done in a month! It's been so hot here lately that I may have to start working on this thing at night.

I took a couple of these photos without the flash, they look blurry - but I just love the way the shadows look on it. Those two pics also give a better impression of what the color actually looks like. The flash makes it appear much brighter than it really is.

You can see dust particles in the last two photos, I wonder if that is the Vashta Nerada.

You've got TARDIS spirits ready to inhabit your box once it is complete.

Hi Willy
Vashta Nerada? could be, remember to count the shadows.
Actually your pictures highlight the colour question quite beautifully. The last four shots all appear to be a different blue. I think the third up from bottom is probably the nearest to the actual colour, but remember, just to confuse things more, all our screens are different (Make, settings etc).
I'm with Exilea on this, can't wait to see the box erected in all it's glory.
Great work, Willy

Thanks for the comments. I just hope that when all the parts are made they fit together as planned. I'm gonna have to find someone to help me once i reach the assembly stage. It's insane how heavy these things can be.

That's looking really great so far, it'll be a massive turning point when you have it assembled for the first time. With regards to weight, yeah - they can be very heavy! I ended up making a trolley to move mine around, a second pair of helping hands is a god-send, though three people would be even better.

Thanks, guys. I was moving along nicely, until the warm weather came. The heat and humidity is unforgiving in this part of the world. I'm so close to the finish line, but I just can't reach it...

Hi Willytron, so near yet so far! I am in a similar situation, I promised my son that my TARDIS will be at his school fair this Friday afternoon. I have two sides, two sign-boxes and to finish the roof before then. I have taken 3 days off work starting from tomorrow to really bring the build mainly to a conclusion. I hope we both succeed!

Nothing new, the heat has made me lazy. I'm anxious to get back to it, though. Perhaps soon... perhaps this weekend.

Willytron,

Your build looks like it's coming together. The humidity and heat make it difficult to work and definitely affects the wood too. I am located along Lake Erie and the weather the past few days here has been very humid. I have my build in my basement which is much cooler. Keep up the good work and don't lose your momentum.

Cheers,
Jon~

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Dr. Iz. It is feeling a bit cooler today (Of course, it's only 9:30 or so in the A.M.) - but I plan to go and put in some work on the old box this evening after work. I called my mother yesterday and asked if I could store my tardis in here basement part of the time to avoid weather damage, but it seems that the ceelings are only eight feet high. My TARDIS will be around ten feet tall. She has an old shop in back of her house that may accomodate it, I'll have to go and check.

Last night I finished the frame work on the third wall. All that's left to do on that wall is the trim, then I have to do the fourth wall and the roof.

Oh yes. I also put the lock and door handle back on last night. I discovered that the door don't open and close very well, it kind of sticks at the top. it will require some sanding. It may work better once its standing up.

Very nice build! I am with you on the humidity. I live in North Western Illinois and the humidity was pretty bad most of last week and I didnt build on those days as my garage is an oven in that heat.

Thanks for the comment. My workshop is out in the middle of the woods, and there is no electricity. So I'm using a power generator - which also generates a lot of heat. So in addition to the heat provided by mother nature, i'm in this small room with no air conditioning and a gas powered heat source. Plus I've got lights plugged into that thing, and they generate a certain amount of heat, too. I tried plugging in a fan last night, but it just blows the hot air around. Lot's of sweat has soaked into my tardis lately.

I'm using my brother's saws and he needed his jig saw, so I can't start work on the fourth wall until i get it back, so I started on the roof.

this is perhaps the best representation of the true color of my paint out of all the pictures that I have posted, and the lock and door handle are back in place.

That's all for now, let me know what you think. I hope to finish the roof tomorrow evening.

Thanks. It is difficult to photograph, the flash makes it appear very bright blue, it almost seems to glow. I have found that I get my best pictures without the use of the flash.

One thing I started doing with my camera was putting a white sock over the flash. You'll get the instant shutter speed without saturating everything with light.

...make sure it's a clean sock too as you'll be holding it close to your face. I speak from experience :P

Good tip there from Exilea. You can also use a part of plastic milk carton. It emmulates the way a softbox works. I use a fuji 35mm film container to soften the flash on my SLR. Ah, camera talk. I miss being a photographer sometimes.

Thanx for the tips, fellas. I bought a new digital camera a couple of days ago, It has settings for close up pics and shaky picks that eliminate blurr. I took pics of a blue toy (cobra commander) with differnt settings and found that I could get a more accurate representation of true colors with the new camera. I haven't tried it out on the TARDIS yet, but I think that it will do a much better job.
