I really like how you've done your roof - light, sturdy and looks good on the inside. Impressive.

Forgot to mention that I bonded the tops of the corner posts to the roof steps seemed to make sense to me ! I know some guys have experienced some problems in their builds at this stage judging from some of the post on different threads. I will try to get some close up pics to post later [image]

Very nice work, apprentice! The young apprentice seems hard at work - have you used Jelly Babies as an incentive by any chance? ;) :P

Anyway, great looking build - you can't be far off now. Keep the pics coming.

cheers
Chris

Greetings, todays update containing the windows & sign boxes.Original I had hoped to have the windows able to open ala old style crital windows but this was proving to tricky for my friend who's arm I was twisting to manufacture these so they will stay fixed on this model (yet another reason to build the Mark II ;)) My friend is a MIG welder who works at a fabrication firm so it was just a case of drawing up the program & punching the shape out of a sheet of coated steel & then folding to the finished shape.I have only fitted them temporary to get some pics of how its going to look, can`t make my mind up whether I prefer the frames to be blue or white ! Maybe I`ll ask my mate to run off a spare set & have 1 of each ;D [image]

Incredible workmanship!
Your window frames make total sense and is practical to say the least... I wonder if I could find anyone state side that could do something like this. Any pointers? I am eager to see her wear the blue paint... Ahhhh..

Thanks for the input on my build too.

Jon~

P.S. - I see you have a little helper too! They make the project more worth while! :)

Hi Jon,thanks for your kind words.I follow your build with great interest,as for tips regarding the window frames I would surgest looking to see if you have any local firms that do metal fabrication & ask if they have metal punching & folding capability or if they know of any firms that do.I would offer the details of my contact but I guess the post & packaging would make it prohibitive :'( As to the Young Apprentice every workshop should have 1 ;D[image]

O great & purple 1 yes as ever you are spot on.I asked another mate of mine who just so happens to have brother with a sign making firm if he would make some signs on opaque perspex & reverse print the police lettering on to that as I hope to have the sign boxes illuminated internally.I gave him a print out from the manual (thanks Glen :D ) & this what came back ! But the more I look at them & compare them to other builds the more I`m drifting to the dark side, choices choices.Blue, black, white or maybe even PURPLE ! :o [image]

Stand by for todays gripping installment of the Apprentice build.... Did some mock ups today of what the windows are going to look like.I managed to source a supply of various types of peppled & hammed glass which I could get cut to size to make up a 6 pane checkered board effect but it was going to cost about £200 for the 8 windows ! :o Tried a local signage firm as to what they could offer & they could do a similar effect in perspex for a similar price ! :o only advantage they should be cyberboy proof. But when he contacted his supplier they no longer did the peppled sheet in small quantities but only full sheets @ £600 :o :o :o :o So my by now friendly sign guy offered a different solution in shape of a single piece of frosted perspex to which he added an etching effect in the form of a 6 pane checkered board. It`s not EXACTLY the effect I was hoping for but was considerably cheaper.I`ll add some pics & maybe some of you guys may like to give some feed back [image]

Hi Apprentice
I may be a little biased here, but I really like your windows. Yeah, of course they are the same as mine ;) Only better!
This is a lovely build, very Hartnellesque. The magical "Blue paint moment" approaches, methinks :D

I had similar problems trying to source that elusive pebbled glass ... there is a modern equivalent available I got from my local door store, it's not 100% accurate but looks close enough that nobody who isn't a member of this forum would notice! It comes in yellow, clear, green and red. That aside, as I've said before on this thread, phenomenal build sir!!! There's no impetus in the universe stronger than love, is there?

Thanks Pod but doubt that I could swing it past Mrs A that I just HAVE to go to Aus to get some glass for the TARDIS ::) I can source the glass in this country at a price but I fear the local "little darlings" might have a field day with their catapults :'(
