Interior Builds

If you build a TARDIS console, this is the place to chart your progress and show us what you're doing. We love pictures... Once you're finished, make a thread over in the Interior Gallery board, and put up some nice photos of your completed console.

 Karsten's Console Build
« Thread Started on Jul 17, 2009, 12:33am »

Well it pales in comparison to some of the builds here (yes Celation that means you), but here is my humble little entry that I have been working on. Its been a while since I posted anything on it so I thought I would start this as I have been starting up again with it. Here are a few pictures of it currently, I also have to thank celation who was kind enough to send me a plaster cast of his switch housing levers, He gave me permission to mold and recast it up in resin. I will be switching my hardboard version out for the Celation version. Oh the rotor is just propped up in place for now. I have the rail system designed in my head (thanks to Jarrod and Kevin Lippard) and will be working on that in the future as well. Enjoy the pictures

Karsten,

How you can call this console "humble" or suggest that it pales in comparison to mine, is beyond me! ???

It looks just fantastic! Those keyboards are really working now - and I love the Pertwee-style black lines joining them.

And that glow cast from the Time Column is amazing!

Looking forward to seeing more...

C.

Hey guys thanks for the comments, Oh and Chris..you know how it is..you always see the flaws and problems on your own build. At any rate I am pretty happy with it. and looking forward to getting more work done on it. Not this week though, I am headed to the Florida keys next week for a much needed vacation.

Thanks guys for the comments. I am at the airport right now heading home from my vacation. Wow I needed that. I will be working on my console tomorrow. I need to get some more Resin ordered to cast up a few more lever housings and I need to also build and cast one of the large slide lever controls for the Time Rotor. I'll try to get some stuff posted for tomorrow when I am done.

I suppose you could take the normal precautions against an atomic blast. Sticky tape on the windows and that sort of thing.

Well its been a few months since I posted an update but I have been able to work on my console the last few weekends and am feeling good on the progress. I am close to finished on two panels and have started a 3rd panel. I have made some changes on what I wanted for panel 3 and added some detail to panel 2 which is the one with the keyboards. All the lights and switches are dry fit right now until I get the console done and start the wiring phase. Let me know what you guys think.

And I have just been inspired by another member, thanks Hand of Omega, digging his sketchup console design I have decided to add some features of his onto my morphing customer console. So Donald this ones for you. This is mock up only in photoshop but it will be getting the real world application. I am also going to be going darker on the panels themselves and keeping the panel covers and rotor collar light to give it a nice contrast and depth.

Small update this weekend, I didn't have much time today what with errands and the like but I put together what I had assembled this far for this picture and I started on the hand of omega inspired panel edge covers to go with my Rob Semenoff inspired console panel....I hope you find it inspiring <LOL> :P

Well I had a bit more time so I whipped off a couple more panel edge covers. and I included a picture of a panel that is sort of in flux..nothing set on it but a basic layout. Thanks for looking.

Are you going to leave them plain, or add switches etc to them?

I haven't decided yet..part of me likes the clean lines..but another part of me wouldn't mind seeing a dial /switch / etc here or there.
